Description:
Works with daily supervision to conduct tasks assigned by senior engineering and technical staff. Searches literature; conducts surveys and
experimental tests; collects, analyzes and summarizes data; and develops preliminary findings. Assists in the preparation,
presentation and follow-up of proposals.
Essential Functions/Duties:
Seasonal hire (approximately 3 months), selected for achievement and potential in a scientific college curriculum. Each Intern will
be placed under the direct supervision of a mentor, and be provided opportunities for participation in ongoing projects to the greatest
extent possible. Opportunities include but are not limited to Real Time Programming (C,VxWorks); Object Oriented Developmental programming
(in C++ and/or Java), and Electrical Engineering (EE) tasking in a variety of applications (mostly radar associated).
Tasking is at entry level, to include the following:
- Conducts research to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information; keeps informed of currently approved
standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty.
- Performs fundamental engineering tasks requiring standard techniques such as tolerance studies and design calculations.
- Plans and carries out successive engineering steps and resolves technical problems using standard practices and techniques.
- Studies currently approved standards, codes, and procedures relevant to the engineering specialty and applies such standards to
work performed.
- Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of Junior Class standing and be enrolled in an accredited Bachelors' Degree program in a scientific
discipline suitable for the Internship being offered (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Computer Engineering preferred).
- Strong computer skills are desired, including Microsoft Office applications and other COTS packages.
- Completed course work in EE / Computer Science / Math and any technical job/hobby experience will be considered.
- Have a valid, current state driver's license.
Must be a U.S. citizen or Naturalized citizen of the United States and hold or be able to obtain a
security clearance. Must pass a background check and drug test.
