Job Title:Senior Engineering Technician

This position is a part of the Joint Range Technical Services (J-TECH) II contract, a 15 year service contract that was awarded in July of 2018, and supports the Simulation Hardware and Radio Frequency (RF) Engineering Elements at the Benefield Anechoic Facility (BAF) at Edwards Air Force Base (AFB).

Spiral Technology is looking for a proactive problem solver that can lead teams and enjoys the demands of working in a hands-on Test and Evaluation (T&E) environment.

Essential Functions/Duties:

The primary roles and responsibilities include configuring various pieces of RF components and test equipment for test and experimental activities composed of RF switches, attenuators, amplifiers, filters, couplers, circulators, transmission lines, antennas, spectrum analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, pulse analyzers, precision network analyzers (PNA), and Electronic Warfare (EW) threat simulators / stimulators.

In addition to configuring equipment for test activities, the candidate will be responsible to integrating equipment to a local network for remote operation. This includes changing Internet Protocol (IP) addresses on test equipment, configuring ethernet switches and configuring settings in custom built one-of-a-kind software applications.

The successful candidate will be accountable for (1) compiling calibration data and importing into a MicrosoftTM (MS) AccessTM custom built database, (2) performing system integration calibrations and checkouts, and (3) verifying system operations for test execution.

The candidate will document these configurations using MS Visio® and MS Excel to create drawing packages and RF link budget estimations for systems' documentation.

The candidate will work with the RF BAF engineering team in assembling prototypes and unique test equipment configurations. This requirement includes soldering wires and components on printed circuit cards, and following and modifying system / subsystem assembly procedures and schematics.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • BS in a STEM discipline with 5 years' experience.
  • AS in a STEM discipline with 7 years' experience.
  • 9 years demonstrated experience in the above Essential Functions / Duties.
Desired Discriminating Qualifications:
  • Capable of writing custom functions and macros in Excel / Virtual Basic® for Applications (VBA)
  • Programming / writing custom software in Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench (LabVIEWTM)
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD®
  • Proficient in MS VisioTM
  • Security+ Certification
  • An active security clearance is considered a highly desirable plus

Must be a U.S. citizen and hold or be able to obtain a security clearance.
Must pass a background check and drug test.
