Integrated Flight/Propulsion Control Systems Capabilities

Fault-tolerant Flight/Propulsion Control Systems Testbed Development

Spiral Technology has the capabilities to lead efforts to develop fault-tolerant, general-purpose controls research and development platforms for man-rated aircraft. Spiral Technology has had significant participation in NASA research (F-15 ACTIVE) to develop fault-tolerant variable stability platforms for the purpose of performing rapid development and evaluation of future critical tactical military aircraft control technologies. Technologies include control-effector evaluation (primarily in the area of thrust-vectoring), and advanced flight/propulsion control system integration.

Capabilities in this area include:

  • System capability requirements development
  • System architecture design
  • Pilot-Vehicle Interface requirements and design
  • Simulation design and modeling of control laws
  • Flight-safety-critical control mode engagement, transition, and reversion logic design
  • Pre-flight planning
  • Mission monitoring
  • Post flight analysis
  • Flight Control System Design, Analysis, and Test

Spiral Technology has demonstrated expertise in the design and test of advanced control systems for experimental flight vehicles:

  • Control law specification development
  • Control law synthesis and analysis using state-of-the-art methodologies
  • Simulation evaluation and flight-test planning
  • Thrust-vectoring control-law integration
