JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our team is seeking an Engineer to join the Simulation Hardware Team at the Benefield Anechoic Facility (BAF), Edwards AFB, CA. Working within the world's largest anechoic chamber to support advanced electronic warfare and avionics testing, you will maintain, optimize, and execute core simulation operations.
Candidate will support RF test setups within the chamber, accounting for antennas, amplifiers, signal isolation, noise floors, RF power, cabling, and phase alignment. Responsibilities include configuring and calibrating instrumentation for baseline checks and scheduled test events. During test execution, you will work in a control room setting, collaborating with cross-functional teammates, military personnel, and test customers to monitor systems and resolve real-time technical issues.
JOB DUTIES:
In this role, you will translate defined requirements into reliable hardware and software solutions, from initial implementation through operational support. You will lead performance analysis, routine testing, and troubleshooting for the Combat Electromagnetic Environment Simulator (CEESIM), Automated Measurement System (AMS), and other RF systems.
Essential Functions/Duties:
- Knowledge of fundamental RF principles, communication systems, and signal propagation.
- Experience manipulating and analyzing technical datasets across standard formats.
- Hands-on familiarity with RF measurement methods and standard test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical communication skills.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and 2 years of related engineering experience or an accredited Master of Science in engineering.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Experience with tools such as Linux, MATLAB, Simulink, or LabVIEW for system modeling and instrument control.
- Understanding of hardware timing and synchronization protocols (e.g., IRIG standards).
- Familiarity with testing standards such as MIL-STD-461G or IEEE STD 299.
- CAD experience (SolidWorks or AutoCAD) and rapid prototyping/3D printing.
- Introductory programming proficiency in Python, C, or C++.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required. Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
